Packaging affects cost, loading efficiency, storage, handling, loss prevention, discharge, and destination suitability. Final options depend on product characteristics, quantity, route, facilities, and current availability.
New steel drums are widely considered for penetration-grade bitumen and selected products where containerized handling and unitized discharge are preferred. Drum weight, steel thickness, filling level, palletization, markings, and container loading should be confirmed.
Jumbo bags can improve payload and reduce metal waste for suitable bitumen grades and climates. Bag construction, release method, heat resistance, outer support, loading arrangement, and destination handling capability require review.
Sulfur and other dry products may be supplied in smaller bags or large bags according to form and handling needs. Inner lining, weight, stitching, palletization, moisture protection, and markings may be specified.
Liquid or heated products may require road tankers or ISO tanks compatible with temperature, viscosity, loading, discharge, cleaning, and route requirements. Equipment suitability remains essential.
Larger volumes may justify bulk-vessel or terminal-to-terminal movement. Port capability, storage, heating, pumping, survey, laytime, discharge, and scheduling must be coordinated.
The RFQ should state preferred packaging, unit weight, destination facilities, unloading method, storage limits, required markings, container preference, and any local import or environmental rules.
